Why Choose Us

Why Choose Eldercare for Home Care

Most home care providers in Ontario describe themselves as non-medical. Eldercare is different. Every client is actively managed by a Registered Nurse from the first day of care.

The difference

Registered Nurse supervision included

Non-medical services are non-medical because no one with recognised medical credentials is actively managing the care. When you choose Eldercare Home Health, your parent receives PSW care that is actively case-managed and supervised by a Registered Nurse at no additional charge.

Doctors, social workers, and other healthcare professionals refer their patients to Eldercare because they know our Registered Nurses will communicate with them and keep care on track.

Assessments

Assessments by a Registered Nurse

Other companies may offer a no-charge assessment, but the person conducting it may not have the clinical qualifications to identify what your parent truly needs.

Our Registered Nurses review mobility, medications, cognition, environment, and health history at the first visit. That clinical insight shapes a care plan that actually fits your parent's situation.

Registered Nurses Association of Ontario

“RNAO's position is that Ontarians must have access to care from the most appropriate and best-qualified health care provider.”

From day one, over 30 years ago, Eldercare Home Health has provided care management for every client through a Registered Nurse. The RNAO calls Registered Nurses ideal case managers, and we agree.

What makes us different

More than scheduling — nursing leadership

Doctors, social workers, and other healthcare practitioners turn to Eldercare Home Health to provide home care for their own parents and loved ones. Healthcare professionals recommend Eldercare Home Health to their patients for home care in Toronto, the GTA, and Mississauga, and they also choose us for their own families. Because they know that home care supervised and case managed by Registered Nursing Staff can make a big difference.

The assessment difference

Other companies may provide a no-charge assessment, but often the person providing the assessment is a business manager, franchise coordinator, or intake worker — not a clinical professional. The assessment is a critical part of understanding your parent's health status and care needs, and it is essential that it be provided by a Registered Nurse. The Nurse providing your parent's assessment will meet with you and your parent, review their health status, medications, environment, and history, and shape a plan that actually fits their situation.

We make it easy to bring in the additional home care you need. We can usually schedule our caregivers around any care you or your loved one may be receiving at home through Home and Community Care Support Services. We also provide supplementary care in hospitals and Long Term Care facilities and retirement homes.

Value, flexibility, and peace of mind

Many home care providers in Ontario are franchised offices of US-based companies. Eldercare Home Health is independent and 100% Canadian owned and operated — and always has been. At Eldercare Home Health you always have someone to talk to, someone you can trust, and someone who will act. We take our responsibility to you and your parent very seriously.

While you may think that this level of home care would cost more, it does not. We bill only for the time the PSW caregiver is on site, we do not bill additionally for the involvement and services of the Care Manager. Get a flexible arrangement — no long-term commitment, cancel care with only four hours' notice. Yes, Eldercare Home Health can help you with your family's palliative care needs.
