How Eldercare Home Health helps your elderly parent
Home care services we provide in Toronto, North York, Scarborough, and the GTA. If you've never had to arrange home care services before, it can be confusing and stressful. Especially if you're dealing with an elderly parent who's recently had a health crisis. Get the home health care your parent deserves, and the relief you need. Eldercare Home Health has been providing care to seniors in Toronto and the GTA for over 30 years. We can provide the care your parent needs and help you get things as back to normal as possible.
Here's how Eldercare Home Health can help your elderly parent: Most importantly — Registered Nurse case management and supervision is always included with our home care services at no additional charge. This is what sets us apart from non-medical care services and it's the single most important part of how we provide the best care possible. It also means you don't have to worry about case managing or coordinating your parent's care yourself, so you can have a relationship with your parent as their child. Our clients consider Registered Nurse case management invaluable in contributing to the well-being of their parent.
PSW care — Our caregivers can help with activities of daily living including mobility and transferring (walking, standing, sitting, getting in and out of bed, etc.), personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, and grooming.
Exercise programme reinforcement — “Use it or lose it” as they say. Exercise can lead to improved flexibility, muscle tone, balance and coordination, and can help prevent falls, improve appetite, improve mood, and more.
Medications — Ensuring the right medications are taken at the right time can make a significant difference in your parent's well-being. All too often the medication is there but it is not being taken, or not being taken properly. We can help correct this issue, and provide ongoing monitoring and assistance.
Grocery shopping and meal preparation — Cookies and tea are a nice treat, but they're not a meal. Eating and drinking are essential to your parent's well-being. A lack of proper nutrition can lead to confusion, dehydration, weakness, falls, and trips to hospital. We can help make sure your parent has an opportunity to improve their nutrition and hydration.
Going to appointments — Doctor's appointments are usually during the daytime when you likely have work or other commitments. Our caregivers can accompany your parent(s) to Doctor's appointments, tests, etc., freeing you up to take care of the many other things you need to do.
Companionship and cognitive stimulation — All too often one day blends into the next. Companionship means having someone to talk with, who encourages participation in activities, and can help make days more interesting and purposeful. Benefits may include increased appetite and hydration, improved mental state, fewer “challenging” calls to family, a higher level of function, and more.
Light housekeeping (as part of providing care) — A clean, tidy environment can be beneficial psychologically and physically, reducing the risk of falls and improving overall well-being.
