The event, titled “The Critical Link” provided attendees with an opportunity to learn about issues relating to planning for retirement and senior care.
Lawyer Michele Guy spoke about wills and estates and the importance of having your affairs in order.
Lisa Wiseman spoke about the state of the healthcare system in Ontario, the unique needs of the elderly and how Eldercare Home Health helps clients by providing Registered Nurse supervised senior care.
As part of her talk, Lisa pointed out an article that recently appeared in the Toronto Star titled “Dying woman outlives her 90 days of home care so CCAC cuts her services”
Lisa also talked about the different settings that are available to seniors, such as Home, Retirement Homes, Nursing Homes (Long Term Care facilities) etc. and how they differ from each other both in cost and care/services available.
VP BMO Susan McAssey talked about issues relating to retirement planning from a financial perspective and the impact portfolio mix can have on returns.
Attendees had a chance to ask questions, and a wonderful lunch was provided by the Granite Club, courtesy of hosts Lois Smith and Jan Petropoulos.
An informative, and enjoyable time was had by all.
